SNAP Account - Frequently Ask Questions

Q. I have my own wash facilities and don’t want my drivers using public wash sites?
A. No problem! Just switch off washing as an option in SNAP and your drivers will never be able to charge a wash to your account. Alternatively, you might like to have the service available by exception – the driver or your fleet manager (you choose) can authorise each transaction; this takes care of the unforeseen circumstances and when washes are needed for safety reasons

Q. What about parking sites which charge a food inclusive fee for parking?
A. No sites on the SNAP network are allowed to include charges for food in the parking fee; each parking session fee is strictly for parking only. Some sites offer SNAP drivers special "meal deals" but that is between them and the driver and nothing to do with us or the fleet operator.

Q. How soon can I start?
A. It's up to you, it is possible to start today but we do like to send drivers guides to you, one for each vehicle.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Each washing and parking site sets its own charges which are clearly displayed on our website, we do not charge you anything in addition, if you maintain a pre-paid account.

Q. What if I want to stop?
A. We will be able to cease your SNAP account, and inform you of the balance we hold; after a few days, to allow for any delayed transactions, we will transfer your balance back to your account.

Q. OK, I like the look of it, but how come you give me this control and information for nothing?
A. Apart from being very nice people, we also take a small commission for each transaction from the relevant site, this pays for our service.

Q. If I am from elsewhere in the EU, do I pay in UK pounds or Euros?
A. You choose, we show the prices for each site in UKŁ and €uros this ensures you know how much you have paid at any time and you will not have to worry about currency exchange. We also simplify VAT for you. If you are based outside the EU you can operate a Euro account with us, which will mean all your transactions are in Euros and you will not have to worry about currency exchange. With wash transactions, we can normally use the reverse charge system to avoid you having to reclaim VAT.

Q. How quickly does the data appear on my screen?
A. If you login 1 second after a transaction has taken place, the transaction will be visible to you. There is a delay with some parking transactions (the ones which are generated from camera data); often the data is manually verified before being charged to your account.

Q. Why do we have to maintain a pay-as-you go account with SNAP?
A. We are duty bound to pay the sites whenever you use their services, we have to deposit funds in advance with some organisations which is why we your money needs to be held on account. We use a Client Account for all funds, this is similar to a solicitor, where the funds are reserved for the use of the sites, or returned to you if you stop using the service. We have a separate operating account and live off the commission we receive from participating sites. We do offer an account where you pay by return for all transactions without a deposit however, we add a small service charge to cover our costs.

Q. What else will you offer in the future?
A. We are offering discounted recovery, where you know the costs before you have a problem and are not left at anyone's mercy when you need help. We have started Adblue sales at some sites, which is another benefit as it is bulk-pumped rather than in containers, so the costs are lower. Any service can be easily inhibited on our system; we generally start with everything switched-off and then you choose what you want to use.
